Healing Wounds session recap: Mental health awareness training

As part of our Woman 2 Woman projects the MOE have organised a Healing Wounds workshop.  At each session a new topic is addressed by a different speaker. On Thursday 5th June  2014 Risq Animasaun of BME Mental Health, conducted a session on mental health awareness training.

The goal of the session was to help the participants understand more about mental health, in order to become aware of symptoms and signs that indicate a lack of mental well-being. This encompassed looking at their own mental health as well as that of others.

Just as importantly, the session looked at ways in which the participants could reach out to help others, including those from different cultures.

The session also addressed the discrimination and stigma that is often attached to people with mental problems.

As you can see from the photos below, the session was an interactive one and the feedback on what participants most enjoyed and learned in the session reflected that.
