Massive praise goes to Maurice Powell and Joel Sinclair.
For those of you not familiar with their story, the two youngsters sat their piano exam on the 9th of April and have been informed that they passed. Well done!
But that is only part of the exhilarating story. Due to no fault of their own, the original date Dorothy Johnson was due to take them to the exam was changed. No problem, you might think, just arrange another date. Which was exactly what Dorothy did.
However, on the day of the exam (some 30 minutes prior to be exact) she learned that the exam wasn’t to take place in Croydon as per the original. No no, it was to take place in central London. And no way was she going to get there on time with the two young men!
The Associate Board Royal School of Music (ABRSM) kindly informed them that if they arrived a little late they would still be able to sit the exam. A little while later, after rushing into central London with Maurice and Joel, the three arrived at the plush and rather intimidating venue.
The boys were pretty nervous to be begin with, and the rushing around obviously didn’t help.
But we now know all the inconvenience was well worth it. Congratulations! Maurice passed his grade 1 with 6 credits and Joel passed his grade 2 with merit and 8 credits.
